5 reasons why Birmingham is the best

Let’s take a look at the best “big B” in the country. Forget Bristol and Brighton; here’s why Birmingham is the greatest!

For the foodies

From long-standing city favourites to newly crowned culinary champions, Birmingham boasts more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other city outside of the capital. For fine dining, Birmingham has an impressive number of fantastic restaurants that have made the Michelin grade. We would even go so far as to say that the big B is a gastronomic paradise!

Water, water everywhere

With 35 miles of canals, some say that Birmingham has more canals than Venice. They are a reminder of the city’s unique industrial and artisan heritage. Enjoyed by both Brummies and those staying in city centre serviced apartments in Birmingham, its five canals have something for everyone, serving walkers, cyclists and narrowboat owners alike. Lined with a host of bars and restaurants for fun and relaxation, the network also offers nature lovers a green passageway to head out into the surrounding suburbs.Shop ’til you drop

For some glamorous retail therapy, Birmingham offers the serious shopper a stylish experience. The future looks bright for Birmingham. According to The Birmingham Mail, this supercharged city looks set to become one of the world’s best!

A step back in time

Let’s not get carried away; the city’s future owes much to its past and its artisan heritage. Joseph Chamberlain may not have made PM, but his administration in Birmingham, where he was elected mayor in November 1873, saw him transform the city where he carved out his career. This renaissance continues and has had a major impact on the city of today.

It’s not all glitz and glamour…

…but we wouldn’t have it any other way! For some, Birmingham is quirky and alternative, for others, it has some decidedly rough-hewn edges. Whatever your take on it happens to be, you will be sure to find that Brummies have big hearts and open arms.… Read the rest

How to Travel With a Toddler Without the Stress

When it comes to raising a toddler, the general consensus is that any vacation which involves traveling any great distance is a non-starter. Plain and simple.

The reason for this is the misconception that toddlers aren’t good travelers. However, in reality, the only real difference between a stress-free toddler filled flight and one where nobody sleeps is planning.

Below are some tips to help you travel with a toddler.

Pack Your Bags in Advance

While there will be items which you need to use in the lead up to your travel, it’s important to pack as much as you can a few days prior. By doing this you will get a better idea of what you can and can’t take on the plane without, arranging your bags if necessary to accommodate for any items which you need to take with you on the plane.

Pack Snacks

Despite what you might think, you are allowed to take food on the plane with you. You just aren’t allowed to take liquids through security. With this in mind, visit the Groupon Coupons page for M&M to grab some travel sized packets which you can easily take with you. In addition, be sure to include any cookies or biscuits which can help to keep your toddler’s stomach filled during a long flight.

Dress Comfortably

Unless you have a pressing reason why you should dress up for the flight, your entire family should be wearing comfortable clothes. The reason for this is to eliminate any easy causes of stress, such as uncomfortable clothes. Small irritations like this can quickly turn into problems during the journey which you don’t want to have to deal with.

If possible, change your toddler into their pajamas before the flight to help them be more comfortable on the plane and hopefully drift off to sleep.

The last thing that you want to hear your toddler say while on a plane is that they are bored. The reason is that you know exactly what comes after you tell them you forgot to bring their tablet or your phone battery has run out and you don’t have anything to keep them entertained.

Screaming. That’s what happens.

The best way to avoid this is my packing as much entertainment as you can fit into your carry on bags. If your child doesn’t have their own entertainment devices, be sure to include additional battery packs for you to keep your devices charged to keep them entertained. Of course if you have been thinking about giving them their own device, this could be the perfect reason.

Just because traveling as a family with toddlers isn’t the easiest experience in the world doesn’t mean that it isn’t one which you can’t bring you and your family great memories. If you have been hesitant to take your family on vacation because you are nervous about flying, rest assured that the tips mentioned above will be a great help.… Read the rest
